A wonderful talk from our friend Michael Strand at TEDxFargo. I love how he thinks about the possibilities of objects & the creative practice of giving gifts. The Misfit Cup Liberation Project looks especially awesome.
Loved this project, I still remember when the pictures went up on Lake Street my first year living in Minneapolis.
Also: Wing Young Huie has a blog, very cool!
Every photograph is a self-portrait in some way, reflecting both the person who took it and the person looking at it.
How often do you feel that you are part of what surrounds you? When do you feel apart? I like the moments when both seem true.
“Certainly I had to study biology before I started this work in a formal way, but I’ve learned a lot going through these projects and having opportunities such as being artist in residence at the Natural History Museum of London. I do learn a lot by my contexts with these experts. We’re always partnering with other experts in the field, and that’s a big deal, to have someone you can trust who understands the emphasis of your project and can advise you on decisions.”

Stumbled across another photo that Zoe took that I wish I could have printed and framed. This one reminds me of so many long car trips down icy dirt roads in the winter time, and the absolute loneliness of so much open space, and how much I miss it sometimes.
